September Monthly Motivator

Well we had a beautiful day to be down on the coast. Our first stop was Flagg Hill winery. A quick tour of the vineyard and off to the distillery. It was a small building they only produce 4,000 cases of wine a year. I couldn't get many pictures with all of us clustered in the small area but i did get a couple of the distiller they make the vodka in.

Then it was off to the wine tasting i am not a big wine fan but it was interesting and informative. Then it was back on the bus to head for Seabrook for our fishing trip. Dan and his dream van while we are waiting to board the bus. I was looking forward to that and a walk on Hampton Beach after.

Rocky you may want to get the cats to see this part. There are a few fish pictures.
We arrived at Eastmans a bit early so we got to watch some guys with i think they call them Pari-boards. big parachutes and surfboards they look like fun.

It was a bit windy but i was ready with an extra windbreaker in my backpack. Never needed it though once we got out there it wasn't to bad with the sunshining bright. On the other hand Linda here she gets cold just thinking about winter she did end up taking a layer off when we got to the fishing spot.

Now that looks like fun sailing on the open sea on a bright sunny day.
Until he got a bit to close for the guides comfort and safety of our lines. Then all of the sudden the fun and caos began.

One fish!
Two fish!

HEY MARTIN THATS NOT A BLUEFISH!?!? Thats right gang if your fishing to deep you catch a stingray like my friend Martin here, can also get sand sharks to we had one of those after my batteries died.

Chris and Pat relaxing before we head back to dock. All in all it was a great day and we had plenty of fish and fish stories. As for me i didn't fish i was having to much fun with the camera and watching everyone else. Those that knew my mother can understand that just being out in the fresh air on a cool crisp late summer day is enjoyment enough.
As we came back to the dock it was low tide so low they asked all of us to go to front of boat to be sure that the boat wouldn't hit bottom in a few spots. as you can see its pretty low. The area in the back ground is actually where the guys and gals had been surfing only 4 and half hours before. The grand total for the day was one of the best they have had all summer on a half day trip. We had about 35 people fishing in all and came home with 113 blue fish. The morning tour had 25 and they got 63 in total. So we knew we had a good day to fish just didn't know how good.
I want to send a big thank you out to one of the deck hands Johnathan Scott and no he is not trying to show me his middle finger he is adjusting his sunglasses the boat rocked a bit and i snapped the picture. He was a big suprise to me when we boarded the boat. He is a PSU alumni and a good pool shooting friend that graduated in 08. So you can imagine my suprise when he leans against the rail and says i knew i would see a familiar person. He was also entertaining on the trip. He ate a still beating heart of one of the fish and even convinced a few others to try it. EWWWWWW.. but they all said it taste like steak tips.. thats what the lady in the picture is eating. Sorry i am not going to try that.
Well as you can see no Hampton Beach pictures and not because my camera batteries died. We cought so many fish by the time they finished filleting them we had fallen almost an hour behind schedule so it was straight to dinner at UNH dining hall. We landed back in Plymouth at about 9:30pm so was a great day had by all.

Off Topic

Ok this doesn't really fit the theme of this blogspot. Joey and his girlfriend went Ice Fishing with her father today. Well they just left the house and as you can see from the photo it was a good day on the ice. That is a 26.5 inch trout he cought today. Shana also got one about 2/3 that size but didn't want any picture. She probably had enough taken earlier. Hope all are well and new craft posting coming real soon.

Dishclothes of 2009

Ok here it is my second dishcloth of 2009. Has a bit of an ooooops in it because i started working on it before i got an updated post on an error in the pattern. but it doesn't show up that much. I am really enjoying doing these. I plan to meet the challenge to do all of the KAL (knit alongs) for 2009. There are two a month so its not to bad. I am still working on my shoulder wrap. I can't wait to finish it feels so soft and warm maybe even "wicked warm" as my cousin rocky would say.

Inspired by the cold

Ok it may sound crazy but yes this fridgid weather has inspired me for a new project. I have started a shawl-shoulder wrap. It will be keeping my shoulders nice and cozy as i sit and knit. I don't believe i will ever get all of my yarn made into completed projects but i am giving it a go. I may end up with partial and need to get more yarn. YIKES!! isn't the idea to make the stash smaller not larger.. oh well. I guess i will have plenty to do inside during this deep freeze. Hope all are staying warm. Ok i am off to make a cocoa and do some knitting.

the following are a few of my projects i have been working on.. the first is joeys hat that i made at his request. The second is an afghan i made him and shana last year.

this next picture is the chenile hat that i just finished for myself. Its a bit on the large size due to not having an actual pattern for using the thicker yarn.

Oh and as you may also notice my little model for the hat was all but excited about the task at hand. I think he looks cute though.

I will keep all updated on any new projects and i hope that my new layout allows comments now. Have a great day and stay warm!

Storage Idea

Needed room for some of my yarn. My sons girlfriend left me an over the door shoe holder when they moved out. I am lucky if i have 4 pairs of shoes that fit in it. So i decided to sort my dishcloth yarn when i go my 2009 quarterlys. and this is the result .

First dishcloth of 2009

The first dishcloth of 2009. Kind of makes me want to go ice skating. I am looking forward to the next one and i will be doing others in between the KAL's.

Necessity the Mother of Invention

Well as we all know i enjoy crafts. Sometimes this can be a handy thing. Like the title says. Need a costume for your one year old? Well its amazing what you can do with some yarn and a crotchet needle.
Yes it wasn't a quick solution but for a single mother on a very tight budget it sure worked and i think it was the best costume he has ever worn for halloween.

Ok are we all wondering why i took a picture of a cosmetic plastic pouch from my Mary Kay kit. Well i am no longer doing Mary Kay so i need to do something with it. My mother would have a cow if she knew i threw a possible craft project out. Everything has a use somewhere some how.

Well i never knew just how true this would be. It was June and the kids wanted to go to Laconia. It was bike week and i hadn't gone in a few years so i was all excited. Well incase some of you are not familiar with this event. There are thousands of people crowding the area. As you can see from this picture its a bit of a crowd.

Well the morning we where ready to go. I realized i didn't have anything to carry my money, camera, and other things in. All i had was a large over the shoulder bag. Well then i saw that little plastic bag and my mind was in full gear. I had a purse about half and hour later. Take that little clear bag, a pair of old black pants that have been torn and are used for patches that are laying around, and the draw string to your sons or friends left behind swim trunks. and thats all you need.. you have a small clutch purse. I have to admit i used it more than that one day and still grab it when i just need a small clutch.

there are a few more of my ideas to come in the future. I just need to get some pictures.

Winter Days

Well as most of you know i have been on a vacation due to the university closure for winter break. Well what is one to do one these cold and snowy days? Relax is a good idea and what better way to do that than knitting. I had made this hat for the holiday parade downtown.

Well needless to say that after people saw mine I was asked to do others. I am awaiting a picture of the one i did for a friends daughter. This next picture is of a hat i did for Joey's girlfriend. It is kind of a cross between two patterns. The pink and yellow kind of blend together in the picture.
